There are important changes to our school bus routes for the upcoming school year due to an ongoing shortage of bus drivers. We understand that many families rely on school transportation, and we appreciate your understanding as we navigate this challenge.

In response to the driver shortage, we have made adjustments to our bus routes to ensure that we can continue to provide reliable transportation for our students. These changes include:
Combined Routes: Some routes may be combined to optimize bus capacity and service.
Adjusted Timings: There will be changes to bus arrival and departure times.
Alternative Stops: Certain stops may be removed or relocated to streamline the routes.

We are committed to ensuring that all students have access to transportation while prioritizing their safety. Updated routes are posted on the Rutland Northeast SU website - https://www.rnesu.org/page/bussing-and-routes. We recognize that this situation may cause inconvenience, and we sincerely apologize for any disruption it may create. Please know that we are actively working to recruit additional drivers and restore our transportation service.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our transportation office at 802.247.2769 or email me at rvigue@rnesu.org.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

Sincerely,
Rich Vigue
Transportation & Facilities Supervisor
RNESU

Please closely check the bus routes for when your student will be picked up in the morning and dropped off in the afternoon. There could be some big changes, especially for the afternoon, and your child could be dropped off at a much different time than they have in the past. In accordance with RNE district policy, parents, guardians, or an identified responsible person designated by the parent or guardian must be at the bus stop for grades K-3 or other identified students at drop off times. If this person is not present, the child will be returned to school and wait to be picked up.

Important Dismissal Changes for Otter Valley:
- Students will now be dismissed at 2:55.
- Car riders and drivers may leave at 2:55.
- Car pickup will continue to be in front of the building. Cars arriving for pickup are asked to stay to the right (north side) of the driveway when entering off of Route 7 to allow for buses to enter to the left without delay. Please pull up as far as possible in front of the building to make room for vehicles behind you.
- Buses will arrive at OV between 3:00 and 3:10, and depart in a staggered manner. Students who are bus riders will need to be at their bus departure location by 3:00.

Important Dismissal Changes for Neshobe:
2:00 - Buses will begin lining up. The front parking lot will have limited/no access as the buses have priority and will be blocking portions of the front parking lot.

2:30 - Students who ride the buses will be dismissed to board their bus. Staff members will be at the buses to assist students. Buses are expected to depart by 2:40-45.

2:40/45 - Students who are being picked up will be dismissed to the gym after buses have left. Please drive around Neshobe Circle to the designated “Drop-Off and Pick-Up” zone at the southern corner of the gym, and wait for your student(s) to exit the building. We will move cars along as efficiently as possible. For the safety of our students, please do not pass any vehicles at any time.

2:40/45 - Walkers will be dismissed to the front of the Main buildings after buses have left. You may meet your student(s) there.

Check out this document for more details - and some great graphics to help with understanding.

Important Dismissal Changes for Lothrop:
2:35 - Bus Riders and Boys & Girls Club Members are dismissed to the upper circle. Buses will depart Lothrop at approximately 2:40PM
2:40 - Car Riders/Walkers/Bike Riders are dismissed. Car riders will proceed to the lower parking lot with staff members. Parents will enter Pleasant Street from Arch street and then enter our lower parking lot.

Veggie Van Go Schedule - April - September 2025
Cousin Danny visited our schools today!! The students loved his visit. Cousin Danny is a first generation Filipino-American. He is a former dance choreographer for the LA Lakers. He graduated from Cal State Fullerton and is a former high school math teacher. Although teaching was rewarding he found a new purpose to inspire the next generation through movement. Thanks for visiting and inspiring our students today!
